Fake Acting Job Ads

Oct 3rd, 2008 by Alan Yu

During the acting group yesterday one person was voicing how there was this ad on craigslist advertising that they were looking for serious and professional actors for an actual paying gig. He happened to submit his info only to find out after that they wanted him to pay money for some kind of workshop to be considered for the role.

I guess it is quite obvious that it was a scam. You have to watch out for these a lot as especially when it comes to actors they are usually the most vulnerable in trying to do anything to try and get their careers going. I usually try to avoid generic ads that don’t tell you specifically say the name of the production company.

Just like any job though, you shouldn’t have to pay for the opportunity to work.
