Monthly Archive for November, 2008

I learned some wonderful news today. As you all know, I have been searching for a new agent. Today, I was talking to my background agency as there is a possibility that my choice to get a new principal agent may require me to leave them. To my surprise, they told me that they were entering the market as a principal agency as well and that they were actually going to ask me if I wanted to join.

That was cool I thought as I actually enjoy my representation with them for background work and thought that since I already a have a good working relationship with them that I would feel perfectly comfortable with them representing me as an Actor as well.

As of now, I’m thinking of letting them represent me for both background and principle work. At this point, they apparently sent in their application to the casting workbook and so we’ll see how it goes.

24 Redemption

Not entirely acting journey related, but I’m personally a big fan of the show 24 and knowing that 24 Redemption was showing on TV today got me excited. Without spoiling too much for people who haven’t seen it, the TV movie basically continues from last season and ends up leading the story to the upcoming season.

Essentially, there is this crazy person who is forming a militia of some sort in an African country by recruiting kids to join him in an attempt to overthrow the government. Basically, he tries to train these kids to use weapons and all. Sure enough, some high powered people in Washington are in cahoots the militia group and are trying to cover it up.

There were a lot of interesting moments in the show I thought. Again without ruining it for those who didn’t see it, the part involving that explosive/bomb part was cool I thought. I must admit though, this TV movie didn’t seem to have the same spark that I get from watching the show normally.

I guess one reason for it is that they tried to cram everything with the same real time concept of the story running in a 24 hour period except this time it is a 2 hour period. Therefore, it kind of felt like a normal movie except it had commercials. Overall, my impression was that this was more of a filler to get people warmed up since we haven’t seen a new season as a result of the writer’s strike before.

Too bad this show doesn’t shoot in Vancouver as I would love to work on it considering I watch the show all the time. Then again, they already had a season where they needed Asian people I suppose. Still looking forward to the new season in 2009.

I’m assuming at this point that I probably won’t be needed for this film again, so I thought I would wrap up an overall thought of my experience on this set. The hours were not for the weak of heart that’s for sure as on average everyday was almost 15 hours of work. This set had the most amount of Asian people I have seen due to the nature of the movie as you can see from this crammed up tent area.

Long hours meant that most people were not able to get enough sleep. For example, one day we started at 9am and wrapped up at midnight only to come back at 9am the next day and end at 1am. One of my friends was actually working on this movie as well and as you can see he was one tired lump of clay during the last day.

The working conditions for this film was the harshest I have been on personally. People getting soaked in pools of water, endless amount of running and not to mention the windy conditions to get to and from set during the last few days. Although, one person told me this was nothing like the filming of X-men that took place here as apparently that was a nightmare with people freezing outside in the cold.

Like always, I met new people and have fun with it. As I mentioned before, this is one movie that I am very interested in seeing how it turns out from a technical standpoint since it looks like a lot of computer graphics will be used. Time to focus on the acting again.

Farewell Atlantis Day 7

Well, this should have been the final day on Farewell Atlantis for me being a Chinese Worker. I am really dead tired as of writing this as it has been a very long few days. I’ll write some more details tomorrow as now all I am thinking about is getting some sleep.

Night all.

Farewell Atlantis Day 6

Another tiring day this was and the wrap up time for me was almost midnight. Tomorrow should be the last day that I am working on this movie as to my knowledge this should be wrapping up at around December and I haven’t heard anything about bookings for it personally.

Saw a lot of stunt activities today which was fun. I myself was very close to the edge in this scene which was interesting as well. It really makes me wonder how it will turn out as there is probably going to be a lot of CGI in creating things like the background.

Hope the last day will be fun.

Farewell Atlantis Day 5

Wow this was a long day. From 7am to about 10:48pm. Not only that, but I am back on set at 9am tomorrow. The interesting thing today was that I bumped into so many people who I have done film or acting work with before which just shows you how small this world is.

Other than that, there was a lot of people on set today and everyone definitely got their exercise as there was a lot of running involved. I definitely wasn’t just sitting around today as I was used for most of the day.

Back again tomorrow.
