I went to this studio today to quickly film the public service announcement video. It was pretty straight forward and there was only a two person crew. As expected, everything was kind of a on the fly type of matter as it was done in an interview type of style.
It was pretty quick too as it lasted only about 15 minutes. Apparently it will be shown in places like Youtube sometime next month or so and will probably be on the organization’s site too. I guess everyone will get to see it.

I will be volunteering for that video tomorrow and one thing I realized was that the person didn’t give me any details in terms of what I should wear. I suppose this isn’t too big of a deal since it is just a PSA, but usually for auditions it can be a more stressful decision.
For example, some people go in just as themselves which doesn’t help in making them look like the character or vice versa some people try to dress too much for the part which makes casting directors oversee you for other potential parts.
I think I am just going to go with casual. People often say that wearing black highlights your face more, so I think I will be going with that direction.

I was reading some articles that talked about agent hunting in general as actors wanted to know hat were the best times to submit themselves for consideration. Interestingly enough, there was this one article I read where an agent was being interviewed and they mentioned that new years was the worst time to do so.
The reason behind it was that it was mentioned so many actors having “Find a new agent” as a new years resolution and therefore they get swamped with tons of packages. As you can imagine, a lot o people get ignored. Makes sense too when you think about it.
So I suppose if you are looking for a new agent that a good time to do so may be right now.

So I contacted one of the public service announcement postings and by the looks of it I can fit it into my schedule. Therefore, I think I will volunteer for it. By the looks of it this is going to be an unscripted session though and is more like an interview.
I’m definitely not afraid to be in-front of the camera, so at least that portion of the session will be a breeze. The only thing I am debating about right now is whether I want to go to this before or after my martial arts class. Before means I will have to wake up a lot earlier and might not have as much energy or later being I might be a bit tired out for the session.
New experience at least nonetheless.

Recently I have noticed quite a few postings for public service announcement projects. Some specifically are looking for actors while others don’t mention it specifically. I was just thinking that I was interested in trying as a form of goodwill and at the same time for experience.
Believe it or not, they actually made us do these types of things in acting classes before. The whole point was to learn how to be natural on the camera. At the same time, I’m personally not a household name at this point in time and so it makes you wonder if what I have to say would be that effective to help the cause of the PSA.
I’ll probably request for more details about one of them and go from there.

Just the other day I went with a friend to a place called Science World here in Vancouver, BC. As the name might give away, inside there are various wacky items where kids can dive into the world of science such as learning about electricity or the human body. My friend particularly wanted to see this exhibit about Dinosaur bones and I agreed to tag along.
Now during the day we saw this funny Flash video about the human genes and how unique a person really is. So for kicks, my friend took the test. There was this one question where it asks if you can roll your tongue in a folded shape from side to side like a taco. I was kind of shocked at that question as I thought that was such an easy and common thing to do.
Apparently, it is not very common and my friend mentioned that he couldn’t do it. Out of curiosity, after that day I started to ask people and sure enough it seemed like most people couldn’t do it. This is definitely one of those things where I have always been able to do as a kid and so you would never think that it was unique in any way.
An agent told me that before too where so many times there are things that we could write down on our resumes as special skills except we forget or simply don’t know what our own skills are. So, I guess I’ll add this to my resume. Not exactly sure what kind of part would require this, but I suppose it is a way to even further distinguish myself from everyone else.
