Findmyaudition.com Solicitation
Jan 13th, 2009 by Alan Yu
So I got this e-mail today from a “talent scout” affiliated with an organization called Find My Audition (FMA). Here is the message:
From – Tue Jan 13 15:36:15 2009
From……: Rafael
Email…..: FMATalent@gmail.com
Url…….: www.findmyaudition.comHi Alan, I came across your blog and noticed you’re interesting in acting, preforming, and networking with others in the entertainment industry.
My name is Rafael and am a talent scout for Find My Audition. We organize networking events where upcoming talents can meet and talk to industry insiders like Joe Franklin, Robert Russell, Tuffy Questell, and other on screen celebrities.
It is a great opportunity to learn from the masters, and gain insight on how the industry works.
Since you already have some experience, and are actively looking to network with others, I’d like to invite you to a one on one interview. Before the interview, we’ll do a pre-screening over the phone to learn more about your experiences. If accepted after the interview, you will be invited to attend our next event.
You can checkout the website to learn more at www.findmyaudition.com.
To register for the interview, go to www.findmyaudition.com and click on Sign Up Now.
Your reference code is: (Removed).
My personal assistant will then call you to do a pre-screening and set-up the interview time.
If you have any questions, please email me at fmatalent@gmail.com, or call my assistant at (212) 400-4839.
Take care,
Rafael

Sorry, but for myself I can’t help but to have a huge red flag about offers like these. Even from reading this e-mail, it sounds like this is simply one of those “Attend this event” type of deal where you are promised to meet casting directors and all. While normally you do meet people with these types of businesses, there is probably a hefty fee attached to it too.
Glad you stopped by to check out my blog and my acting journey, but another thing that is weird is that if you are a reader you might notice that I am in the “Hollywood North” location at Vancouver, BC. Considering this company seems like they are in New York too, I don’t see how it would be ideal for me.
Hi Alan,
I’m sorry for reaching out to you in Vancouver. I must have picked up a link to your blog by accident. I usually search for professional actors in the New York City region.
Although, just to point out, we have had people fly from Los Angeles to work with us in New York
I wish you the best of luck pursuing your career.
Rafael
Good thing you didn’t fly all the way from Vancouver to NYC just to waste your time and money. This company is a total SCAM. “FMA” and VIP Talent Connect are run by the SAME person. They charge people $495.00-$1000 just to attend their events. THEY ARE VULTURES.
