I got an e-mail notice today about the casting director workshop that I am attending next week. In the e-mail message it indicates that we should list about 3 questions that we wish to ask the casting director about anything regarding the industry.
I was trying to think of some questions and think that I have two good ones that I have always wondered about. I figured that maybe someone out there has an interesting question that I should ask too. If so, simply tell me what your question is and I will consider asking it.
Of course, I want to avoid any basic stuff such as “What does it take to be an actor”. I see this as a good opportunity to find ways and things we can do as an actor to help further our careers in the eye’s of a casting director.

My agent suggested to my with an e-mail before I signed on that there was this casting director workshop that I should attend as it would be a good way to learn some tips directly from a casting director.
It was kind of a heft price too at almost $200. However, I decided that I will attend it as this is the first time I have decided to try something like this. Kind of feels weird too as it’s almost like paying for someone to see you.
Just wondering what type of questions I should be asking and all for when the day comes.

Well this was interesting. I was looking at my casting workbook status about the agency change and apparently I have the new agent listed. The thing is it mentions that the agent didn’t activate the section where you can modify your resume detail and at the same time in the “Agent’s note” section it still has the same comment from the previous agent.
That leads me to believe that the account hasn’t been looked after yet by the agency which is kind of making me question a lot of things considering I did e-mail them too. I definitely don’t want to just switch to a different agency just like that too as that is a little impulsive.
What’s going on……..?

Alright, so I officially transferred to a new principal agency today. All I did thus far though is that I phoned the casting workbook and told them of my new representation. As it turns out, the agent is sick today too unfortunately.
Now this one represents me for both Principal and Background work which will make things interesting as I am very curious how this will turn out for acting auditions. I do notice too that casting workbook is giving actors a free website. Might be something to check out if you need it.
I haven’t gone to any auditions in weeks though, so hopefully I will see some action soon.

So a friend asked me today if I wanted to try out this fun project where they simply photoshop people’s face into a comic book like presentation and use bubble text. It sounds like fun I thought.
One thing that did cross my mind is that usually a lot of actors are cautious about putting their face on just anything as sometimes you can get stuck with a certain image portrayal as a result. It’s like one those first impressions as once people see you under a certain light that image of you will be burned in their head for awhile.
I guess just like choosing projects to work on can be important too. Just look at what happened to Jim Carrey when he acted in that movie cable guy. This seems like it is something new to try though, so I might do it.

I got an e-mail notice today from my background agent as apparently casting directors are letting everyone know how slow it has been but that things will definitely be picking up. With that e-mail came with a list of products that are scheduled to start shooting. Here is part of the e-mail:
Beginning in March there will be a large number of new productions starting.
Please take a look at Vancouver’s production slate below.
Here are the 5 major productions currently shooting:
