Haven’t received the confirmation yet for the meeting still. I’m almost ready to just write it off as a no go at this point as opposed to anticipating for it. One interesting thing was that I did get another e-mail from the school saying that they are offering a new special rate for anyone that is interested in going back and to put in a deposit right away if they were interested.
I was just thinking, is this a template e-mail meaning the offer wasn’t unique at all? Cause one of the purpose in this other coach wanting to speak to me was to see his take on the situation and how it either makes more sense or not to go back at this point. As you all know the meeting hasn’t even happened yet.
It is kind of an interesting offer too. Basically, the e-mail states that for putting a non refundable deposit to attend the March workshop you can get free one on one coaching for the entire month of February. So, not an actual class attendance but rather if say you have an audition then you can call one of the coaches up and get help for the whole month.
Kind of reasonable I thought price wise. But still, since I haven’t gotten a response to setup a meeting yet that offer is still not good for my situation. In my mind, the discussion I had with my regular coach still makes the most sense to me at this point.
Still trying to find like a good web series partner or someone to create short films with though.

Just an update, I haven’t received the phone call to schedule a meeting with the other person. He sent me an e-mail yesterday saying that he would phone me and so far I haven’t received the call. So hold on as I am awaiting the meeting still.

Interesting e-mail I got today. Basically, one of the other coaches in the workshop program sent me a message stating that I am one of the selected students that is being offered a special discounted rate should I decide to return immediately. I replied with a simple letter stating that as discussed with my main coach we felt it was best to hold off until I accomplish a specific goal.
The thing was? This coach expressed how he disagreed with that advice/direction. Hence, he offered me as it down with him as he apparently is interested in discussing with me about my career plans too. I guess I will take him up on that offer.

Alright, so a little update on what is going on with me attending the audition workshops. At this point I am not regularly attending it as before. I talked it over with my coach and he agreed that the best course of action is for me to work on the other priority.
The good thing is that he is supporting me and offering me help if whenever I need it. Example, I asked him if since I wasn’t attending it regularly at this point, which means I am not paying for it too, I asked if this is going to be one of those “I can’t help you unless you pay me my $50/hr” type of scenario.
He immediately jumped at that and said “No way. If you need help then just ask”. Just to clarify, a ton of acting schools/workshops here are like that where they won’t even talk to you unless you pay them their high fees. So that was really cool.
As of now, consider it an ongoing private mentoring/tutoring help. I am really fortunate to have his support and I guess this shows that he genuinely does want to help me in my career.

Today I got an e-mail about a casting notice for a film that is specifically looking for ethnic people. One thing I noticed is that in the character breakdown it mentions that they are looking for a person within the 20-40 years age range.
These types of postings always confuse me as a twenty year age gap is pretty substantial in terms of the look. Usually I am told that people post it this way because they are still unsure on exactly what they want. I often hear casting directors complain of actors getting submitted for parts where they don’t fit the age range. Postings like this sure don’t help.

Okay, I am officially on the lookout for a person to create a web series of sorts with. The first question that comes to my mind is “Where to start looking?” I’m trying to think of all of my local contacts here too as obviously I would need to work with someone local.
I actually have a concept in mind that I would personally enjoy a lot as I think it would be entertaining yet educational. At the same time, I think it suits an online audience perfectly as most people will “get it” right away. Technically I think it would work out best to find another actor who is comfortable in doing a little bit of post production.
I think this would work out cool too as it is like on the side we can create our own work for fun as you never know what can happen and at the same time we can keep an eye out for auditions and such. I know I can probably just use like a free classified ad and get hundreds of response, but that isn’t exactly the best odds to find someone who would be equally serious/committed to it I think.
Hey universe, I’m calling you out. Send me someone!
