So my background agent contacted me today and I received information on what the big Asian call was for. Apparently, it is for that movie Farewell Atlantis that is being shot here. This looks like it is going to be a cattle call too and a pretty big one at that.

I talked to one person who was in the actors group today and he mentioned that he worked on it once and wouldn’t do it again. Reason being was that there was just too many people on the set which made the experience unpleasant for him.

I personally always see stuff like this as a great experience to learn more as I work towards establishing myself. Maybe I’m crazy, but I told my agent that I was willing to do the six days that were requested. The first day starts next week.

Today I am back on the set of The Tooth Fairy. I believe today is suppose to be the absolute last day they are allowed to shoot at the UBC Thunderbird stadium as well and so it could be a really long day as they need to make sure that they get every shot.

So far this set has been pretty lax I’d say though. I met a lot of people as well which has been a lot of fun. It just was a little overbearing to have back to back 12 hour shoots which means by the time I get home I only get to sleep for like 5 hours before having to wake up again for another day.

All comes with the territory though.

So I was working on the set of Cats and Dogs 2 yesterday and the conditions were kind of bad I must say as it was raining and people were essentially expected to pretend it is a summer night. This meant no jackets too for many and a lot of people got soaked in the rain as apparently the camera did not pick it up.

Interestingly enough, some of the background workers simply walked off set as from what I heard they did not want to jeopardize their health for a movie. Understandable in many ways I suppose, but at the same time they had a lot of the information ahead of time and I would think it would be more professional to tell them beforehand if they didn’t want to work on that set as a result.

I’m back on the set today and it is another night shoot except I start even earlier.

Cats And Dogs 2 At Playland

So tonight I have a very late call time starting at 8:30pm at Playland for the movie Cats and Dogs 2 again. This is a night shot and is suppose to go into the wee early mornings as a result. I was talking to some people on other sets and they mentioned that most likely I will either people a person who is simply lining up or that I will have to go on the rides over and over again.

It was raining earlier today too and we were advised to bring umbrellas. At the same time, the e-mail I received mentioned that they won’t be playing the rain in the scene and so there is a possibility that we won’t be allowed to use it. That makes me wonder if people are going to get soaked.

This is only the second late night background work I have done besides for the TV show Caprica. Probably going to be tired after this one.

Cat And Dogs 2 Again

I was on the set of Cats and Dogs 2 again today. The scene they were shooting was in the exact same area. This time around, there were explosions in the scene. Unfortunately, I didn’t actually get to see it as the Extra tent I was in was far away from the set area and they were mostly just allowing the crew to be there.

I didn’t get to see too many animals today either. The next coming week is going to be super busy as I will be on the set many times for the upcoming movie The Tooth Fairy.

Cats And Dogs 2

I was on the set today for the upcoming movie Cats and Dogs 2. It was shot in North Vancouver at a place called Lonsdale Quay. This was the first time I have been on a set where animals were the primary “actors” in a film.

Another interesting thing that happened on set is that the car that was being used in the movie appeared to have its engine blown out after the first rehearsal take and as a result they had to try to fix it before shooting was able to commence.

Too bad we didn’t get t see more of the animals as we mainly just saw one dog repeatedly going in and out of the car. Was neat to see an animal “hit its mark”.
